A new week

Good morning all, it is hot and muggy here already but the sun is out and it is a pretty morning. I took a big step in going green this weekend and convinced my husband that we needed a clothesline outside instead of replacing our broken dryer. We had been spending 20.00 - 30.00 a week to laundry at the laundrymat. He is actually excited about our decision and the money it will save us not only on electric bills but in our clothes wearing out before their time. I am not sure the kids like it though. I truly believe our kids have it to easy. When I was their age I washed dishes by hand and I did it right the first time. I played out side all summer, if we got hot we sprayed each other with the water hose and went back to playing. We had chores and you didn't watch tv until the chores were all done. We kept our rooms clean (hated that part as a kid) and my kids hate it too! This fall we are pulling up the upstairs carpeting and laying a laminate floated floor, no more carpet to catch dust and yuck! Any way I am excited to be effecting changes that put money into our budget instead of taking from it. I should close now. Look forward to hearing from you all soon. I am looking for suggestions on home school curriculum, I have chosen math-u-see for math but am open on all the rest. I have a 7th and 5th grader! Gotta choose soon, my school year starts September 2nd! Thank God for Labor Day!
Everyone go by and check out the great giveaway at http://artfulife.blogspot.com/ I am currently working on a ceramics project to giveaway so I can join the fun.

A Long Week

Have you ever had a week that just got longer and longer? Well I am having one of those this week. Today has been a trial, went to the doctor about my ear, for those of you who don't know 3 weeks ago a june bug got into my right ear and tried to make it its new home, he dug in pretty good before I killed him with finger nail polish remover (the ear doctor said to use oil next time, olive, mineral or baby oil) all I had was fingernail polish remover and it had to die. Since they got it out though I still cannot hear right out of that ear so more drops and oral antibiotics are now on the menu! Then I got a speeding ticket on the way home from the doctors, I deserved it - I wasn't paying attention. I haven't had a ticket since I was 25, now I feel old. I know what is wrong, I didn't get to have my quiet time this morning, it throws everything off when I don't get that time. I have to go as I am so far behind but more to come.!!

A song in my heart

Every morning when I get to work and it is still quiet I put on a CD and God just sends me to the right song for what I need, the right scripture in my bible to get me through the day I am going to have even though I don't know what is going to happen yet HE does!. This morning it is Chris Tomlin "Glory in the Highest" what a song, what peace "You are the first You go before You are the last Lord Your the encore Your names alive for all to see The stary hopes declare Your glory Glory in the Highest Glory in the Highest Glory in the Highest " I know most of you don't know me but I have a heart that beats to sing and it loves to sing his praises. By the way Karen I have a song for us to do!!!!!! Singing is my way to pray, sometimes I just get lost in his presense and humm, others I find words but the words are all inspired by him. It can stop a bad day, put a smile where a frown is, calm the panicked heart. It is my way. Today is a good day so far! I am enjoying blogging so far and hope to start adding pictures very soon.

Did you notice?

I haven't been doing this to long, just a week maybe but I notice one thing very strong through this connection of strangers that become the strongest of friends. The enemy is on the prowl and attacking us, one by one - little by little. I am here to tell the enemy "you have no place here amongst us, where one or more are gathered together, and I believe we are gathered as we read each others stories and share our joys and sorrows, where one or more are gathered together in his name the enemy cannot stay, where there is just a speck of light there can be no darkness. I love the song that Karen mentioned(by the way Karen I have a great version of that I am going to get for you!) There is also a song by Selah "Press On" what a song
When the valley is deep, when the mountain is steep
When the body is weary when we stumble and fall
When the choices are hard when the battle and scared
When we’ve spent our resources when we’ve given our all
In Jesus name we press on, In Jesus name we press on
Dear Lord with the prize clear before our eyes
We find the strength to press on. To each of you, all of us that are going through a valley remember God walks with us, even carries us when we can't go on, He loves us so much he gave us the greatest gift, we didn't have to sign up to get the giveaway we simply had to believe I love you all

Feeling the crunch

Well good morning everyone and thank God for Friday. As most of you are also going through this money crunch, I feel comfortable in putting my two cents worth out there. In the last week I have done more to restructure my finances than I ever have before. I decided to trade my mini van and an old car I have in on a small fuel efficeint car. Leg room is over rated anyway. I told my son he would just have to stop growing! LOL! We also decided that we are going to home school both of our children so that cuts 40 miles of driving out of the picture a day. (won't that save on gas) I am going to put in a fall garden and I have been putting up plum jam. I will put up apple and pear butter in the fall. I have a friend that has chickens and I try to trade with her for fresh eggs which saves nearly $2.00. Now if I just knew someone with a milk cow!!:) I have started going to warehouses and sack your own grocery stores and the bread store just to cut my grocery bill. My family is forbiden to turn lights on until dusk. We run fans to cut down on ac use and I wash clothes at a laundry mat instead of at home. (More because my dryer is broke but it saves money) I never thought I would see gas at these prices. When I sarted driving in the '80s Gas didn't cost even 1.00. If anyone else has any ideas for me I would be greatly appreciated!!
Have a great day.

What a morning

Hey there. You know God is so good that I don't know how we stand it. I wonder if everyone knows that he cannot only heal a physical problem in a person but I truly believe he can cause healing in inanimate objects too. For example, I have a vehicle that by all means should not be running, yet as I pray each day when I get into it it starts and goes, sputtering a bit here and there but going none the less. When it has broken down the provision is always there to fix it, when there is no provision it runs. I am starting work on my fall projects and begining work on the piece that I will enter in the fair this year. I have to do an extra great job on it as I cannot be in the novice division this year. Does any one know when the muscadines will be ripe and ready for picking?
Have a blessed day.

July 14th my first entry

Well look here. I am so excited to be doing this. The Lord has been so good to me. I am hooked on several hobbies. I love to do ceramics! I go to B & D Ceramics in Meansville, they have everything you can imagine and more for the hobby. Last year I took 3rd place in the novice translucent division at the Spaulding County Fair, my very first time entering. I also love to quilt. I have recently began to do stained glass and find it very relaxing. I am dabling in gardening as well but won't put my first official garden in until the fall. I just tried my first go at canning and it turned out great, homemade plum jamand it actually turned out good! I will add pictures and more information soon.
God Bless
